English Language and Literature and American Culture and Literature, two sister departments of the Faculty of Humanities and Letters are pleased to announce the second undergraduate conference, which will last for two days in April. April 12th and 13th are the days to meet in C Block Auditorium for those interested in literature, arts, social sciences and cultural studies. The conference will begin with the opening speech of Dean Prof Dr Talat Halman at 10 a.m. on the first day at C Block Auditorium.
The first conference was on “Representing the Other” and had attracted many speakers and listeners from national and international universities. This year young scholars will present papers, hold discussions and exchange ideas on “Gender and Sexuality,” which is nominated as one of the most interesting topics according to the registration documents filled in by the attendants, last year.
This annual conference is jointly organized by the students of ELIT and AMER Departments. The academic and social committees work in collaboration to make it a fruitful academic event.
Ülkem Önal (ELIT IV), Zeynep Duyanoğlu (ELIT IV), Selda Saraç (ELIT IV), Meryem Tuğba Pekşen (ELIT II), Yasemin Bayramoğlu (ELIT IV), Nimet Poyraz (ELIT III), Dilek Tuna Dursun (AMER IV), Nihan Soyöz (AMER IV), İpek Çakaloz (ELIT II) worked as the academic committee, planned the conference programme and made the necessary connections with their fellows from various universities in and out of Ankara.
Melih Mol (ELIT IV), Meryem Tuğba Pekşen (ELIT II), Özkan Akkaya (ELIT II), Betül Erdem (ELIT III), Gülfem Toy (ELIT IV), Beste Haskan (ELIT IV), Ahmet Can Vargün (ELIT II), İpek Çakaloz (ELIT II) are the members of the social committee, who contributed a lot in making this event a lively one with their ideas about the relaxing moments between the panels and at the end of the two days of hard work. Ahmet Can Vargün designed the web page for the conference, Melih Mol and Betül Erdem prepared the poster, whose work deserved much appreciation for reaching a wide audience.
